The Lake Macquarie and District Historical Society will be displaying a wonderful collection of historic photographs and memorabilia at the 101-year old Toronto Railway Station. On both days of the Easter weekend, members will provide Devonshire Tea to visitors as they relax on the platform overlooking picturesque Lake Macquarie.
In 2011, our local steam train enthusiasts provided a double decker bus to transport families from the foreshore on the 10 minute trip to ride on the antique steam trains, which will hopefully be organised for 2012. A small charge applied.
Location:
The city of Lake Macquarie is located 90 minutes north of Sydney, the northern tip of the lake is only 15 minutes from Newcastle and we are only 40 minutes from the Hunter Wine Country and the NSW Central Coast.
How to travel to Toronto Village by the lake:
- Driving from Sydney on the F3 north - Take the Toronto turn off, and drive for 15 minutes directly to foreshore.
- Training from Sydney - Hop out at Fassifern Station, then catch the Toronto train bus - in 15 minutes hop out at the foreshore. Bus is included in train ticket. Trains run every hour.
- Driving from Hunter Valley on the F3 south - Take the Toronto turn off, and drive for 15 minutes directly to the foreshore.
- Driving from Newcastle - At Toronto, turn left at the traffic lights just past Macdonalds and drive along the waterfront.
